Alice by Bianca Ryan
- Message and Ideologies of video: looking back on a past friendship from her childhood. The idea that nothing should be taking for granted is presented.
30 Second Interval, before the music has stared.
- The main lead is shown looking through photos of seemingly herself as a child, the scene constantly cuts between this and the main lead and another girl her age dancing, the main lead is winding up the other girl, the idea is created that she is bringing the memory of the girl back to life.
First Verse
Lip synching of the artist is displayed in low key lighting while also cross cutting between the two girls from the previous scene dancing, there are also cross cuts to another taking place where two young girls, the younger versions of the dancing girls are displayed skipping and playing as the verse progresses the scene of the younger girls changes as suddenly one of the girls is left alone and a close up shot shows her swinging her legs. The scene of the two older girls shows them dancing throughout however when the line "she knows, she knows, your not coming home" is sang, the other girl falls and the main lead supports her, the idea that she is trying to preserve their memories.
Second Verse
The setting of the scene changes, they are now in the countryside. The main lead is making ripples in the water, it then fades to the younger version of her doing the same, this creates an echoing of the previous scene, this is not a flashback but rather an echo which shows she also did this when she was a child. The main lead lip-synching is filtered in throughout the verse, like the previous, the girls are also shown walking by the river, the scene begins to end when a close up is shown of the girls hair blowing in the wind.
Chorus
It is important that this scene is not viewed as a flashback rather the lead immersing herself in a memory of her childhood and actually becoming apart of it. The setting of the scene has changed again and the small girl is now pictured in a bedroom, she is looking through the trinket box which could be seen in the previous 30 second interval when the lead was looking through the pictures. The singer is shown watching her while singing the chorus, as the chorus progresses, the girl places the trinket box under her bed and gets under the covers, seemingly getting into bed as she is in her pyjamas, as the little girl sits on the bed the lead, who is still singing, sits on the side of the girls bed and strokes her hair as if comforting her and urging her to sleep, the idea being created that perhaps the lead is troubled or wants back the innocence she had when she was a child, reminiscing on her childhood.
Third Verse
The setting of the scene has one again changed, it begins with a sped up montage of clouds in the sky, suggesting that time has passed however it is calm, as clouds are typically associated as calm. It then fades to the little girl spinning in the countryside and then slowly fades to the lead spinning in the studio, again using echoing like in the second verse to emphasise an idea. The scene ends by fading to the lead lip-synching to the camera.

Bridge
The scene starts with the two younger girls being reunited and grasping hands and walking away, the second line that is sang shows the younger girl synching it and then fading to the older girl, this is the last appearance of the young girl, it then shows the older girls dancing together in the dance studio. The bridge ends with the lead being back in the room from the beginning looking through the photographs while singing.
Outro
When the second line of the outro is sung, the lead looks up from the pictures and smiles, it fades from low to high key lighting, the video ends showing the two girls back in the studio dancing, it slowly fades, the trinket box can be seen with them, this trinket box being the reoccurring theme.
Notes - The scenes in this are not flashbacks but rather the pictures coming alive, the lead is fully immersing herself in the memories and she often becomes apart of them, the video is meant to become ambiguous, as you do not know what happened to the other girl and why she is trying to keep the memories alive.

Very good. What a thorough piece of work. Are you panning to turn this into a storyboard?
